Every year OBS celebrates Malcolm X/African Liberation Day to lift up the legacy of Brother Malcolm X and to talk about issues confronting Africa and the African Diaspora. We decided to build off our anniversary them of “Sankofa – Appreciating our Legacy to Make Black Lives Matter.
The program featured segments from several documentaries. Hidden Colors: The Religion of White Supremacy. 13th, 7:00 am and Out of Darkness. The lively discussing touched on several issues facing our people and this nation. Concrete suggestions beyond the program included supporting businesses that support us and promoting healthy lifestyles. Getting more organized and joining organizations was emphasized by OBS founding member Kalimu Endesha.
The Malcolm X/ALD program is part of our Pamoja Session series which are public forums to raises the political consciousness and participation of our community. Stay tuned as we plan to discuss other vital issues.
